"My goal in painting is to continue the tradition of the old masters with their concern for three-dimensional form revealed through light, atmosphere and space and to add to this the use of color of the Impressionists."

Gemini River Rocks

Becky Nielsen

(845)485-3149; geminiriver@verizon.net

Stones from river and sea shores are collected and hand painted using acrylics. They've been worn by natural forces – no polishing has been necessary.  Shapes often suggest themes resulting in pieces that combine sculpture and painted artwork celebrating saints, women and children, dancing, drumming, humor, and nature.  Many are small enough to be made into pins.  Others are framed in shadow boxes.  Some  become "pocket icons".  Prices range from $12 to $250.  These make wonderful gifts for special events in life and commissions are welcome.

Eye-catching unisex bling for all ages.  My unusual hand-crafted pieces are meant to make their wearer really stand out in a crowd.  Some pieces are very simple, but still make a bold statement.  The same piece may look great on a teen surfer and a woman on an elegant night out.  My original designs are made out of sterling & fine silver, yellow & green gold, gold-fill, brass & white brass, & I do custom orders in any gold or platinum.  Some pieces have gorgeous colored gemstones such as boulder opal, peridot, Swiss blue topaz, lapis lazuli, denim lapis, Arizona chrysocolla & red cuprite, Alaska jade, Utah Picasso marble, etc., & some pieces have one-of-a-kind hand-blown glass beads & pendants, including some dichroic & Murano glass beads & buttons.  I also use semi-precious beads & freshwater pearls.  Check out my website often for new designs, my NY show schedule, & fantastical wire work coming soon!

This is a sample of my work. I make functional wheel-thrown stoneware pottery. All my pottery is durable, oven safe, food safe and microwave safe. My pottery ranges from earthy and matte to glossy and shimmery. The picture shows a French Butter Keeper, the most sought after item that I make. The top, which is inverted in the picture holds the butter, the base holds water. The lid with the butter is placed into the water base and kept on your counter. You always have soft fresh butter, ready for use. I sell them for $19.50. I also make plates, bowls, pitchers, wine glasses, urns, earring dishes, lasagna pans, pie plates and many more items. I love and enjoy making pottery, it is made to be used and enjoyed for a lifetime.
